Last year on World Book Day the children at Tufnell Park raised money to help publish a book for the Rural Libraries Community project in Cajamarca in the Andes in Northern Peru.
The book is call El Naupa and there is a dedication to Tufnell Park children at the front of the book. The characters, Naupas, are ancestral caricatures based on ancient images from rock art and ceramics discovered in the Andes.
The community decided they wanted to publish a journal that the children could write in to record their own stories of Naupas.
We are holding a competition for children at Tufnell Park to draw their own Naupas. The children can make their Naupa into any character e.g. a sports star, a historical character, a book character.
They have until next Wednesday 9th March to enter the competition and they can leave their entries at the front desk. The winners will receive a copy of the book for their class.
