Admission to our Nursery class
Our Nursery class is for children aged three or four. Children can be admitted in the term after their third birthday:
- if their birthday is before 1 September, they can start in the autumn term
- if their birthday is before 1 January, they can start in the spring term
- if their birthday is before 1 April, can start in the summer term
If you would like to visit our nursery, please call the main school office on 020 7607 4852 or email admin@tufnellpark.Islington.sch.uk
If you wish to apply, please download and complete the attached Nursery Application Form 2017 and bring it to the school office along with your child’s birth certificate or passport. We will also need proof of address (for you and your child).
It is also important to stress that acceptance to our Nursery class does not ensure a place in the main school and a separate application for this must be submitted to London Borough of Islington. Further details about admission to our Reception class are available from the school office or at https://www.islington.gov.uk/children-and-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place
15 or 30 hours free early education in our nursery
All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours free early learning.
Our 15 hour sessions are Monday-Friday (term time only) mornings (8:40am – 11:40am) OR afternoon (12:20pm – 3:20pm).
Some families are eligible for 30 hours per week.
Our 30 hour places are Monday-Friday (term time only) from 9.10am to 3.20pm.
For 15 hours, you do not need to do anything. If you would like 30 hours, you need to obtain an ‘eligibility code’ from this government website: https://childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/
There is lots of information about support with childcare and about childcare providers on the Islington Family Information Service website:
